Ariel Wade: "Embrace" (Exclusive Interview)
What inspires your music?
I draw inspiration from just about anything, life experiences, other peoples experiences, movies, nature, social issues, etc. Sometimes it’s my own imagination that inspires my music. I make up a scenario in my head then my lyrics bring it to life. I often write with the intent to inspire people.
How did you start your professional recording career?
I was looking for someone who specializes in artist development and I happened upon Roy Hamilton III. He is a pleasure to work with and I am excited to continue working with him.
How did you come up with your single?
I was on YouTube a few years ago and I started watching videos about people lightening their skin all over the world. Those videos inspired me to write Embrace to encourage people to love the skin they’re in, for there is beauty in every skin tone. I was inspired to encourage people to love themselves for who they are because we all come from different walks of life and there is value in that. We’ve learned so many life lessons from past experiences that will influence our decisions in the future and each and every story is unique and that is beautiful. Embrace yourself.
What is your genre of music?
My genre is R&B/ Pop right now
Who are your influences?
Beyoncé, Brandy,Chris Brown, Whitney Houston, The Beatles, Pentatonix, Donny Hathaway, etc.
How would you define success?
I would define success as the feeling of being accomplished—having pride in knowing that you achieved your goals. I would feel successful if I achieved the goals I have set for myself now, which is making it in the music industry. This would enable me to inspire and reach people on a broader scale. It would bring me so much happiness because I’ve dreamt of it since I was a child. I believe that if you are happy with your life you are successful.
What can we expect from you in 2022?
You can expect my single Embrace to drop May 13th. Definitely more music from me and some great content.
