What inspires your music?

Every day life, people, situations, relationships.  If you’re open to it, you can find inspiration everywhere you go and in everything you do.

How did you come up with this song?

‘Secretly’ is a cover of The British rock band Skunk Anansie. What I love about this song is the intensity of its message which reflects in the epic chorus. It’s a passionate song, it’s dark, and also sad. You can’t just write or cover a song like Secretly without having experienced that kind of emotion. This is the kind of musician I am, intense and passionate, and sometimes sad. I felt Secretly was the perfect debut to kick start my solo project.

Skin, the lead singer of Skunk Anansie liked my posts a couple of times on Instagram. I felt that was her way of giving me her approval, at least I hope so! This made me very happy, and relieved, it was the right decision to make.

What is your genre of music?

Pop, soul, emotional. Predominantly ballads.

How do you describe success?

Inconsistent! Success is unpredictable, it comes and goes. When you’ve worked hard to achieve it, enjoy and appreciate every minute. There are no guarantees your success will last forever. Maybe it will, lucky you, but mostly success needs to be worked on constantly to remain part of your life. I do not believe I am owed success, I don’t think anyone is owed anything. It is our job to work for the things we want, whether that be a successful career, family life, marriage, etc. What ever it is that you desire, never stop working on it or yourself.

What can we expect from you in 2020?

It’s interesting because I feel like this is the first time in my life where I know who I am, and what I really want, and how to take control of that.

Just like most people, life has been a challenge. I’ve endured some very dark times, along with some incredibly positive times. This year I want to reflect my new perspective in my music. I want to share my story openly without hiding behind a glamorous persona. That is something I’ve never done before.

I also want to use my experience to encourage and inspire other up and coming creatives. More and more I’m finding myself passionate about helping and supporting others. This is something I’d like to develop in 2020.
