What inspires your music?

My main inspiration for my songwriting is really connecting with every chapter of my life. It’s important for me to write about my personal stories in the hope that my music connects with my audience who may have shared similar experiences giving them something to relate too.

How did you start your recording career?

I have been singing and playing guitar since I was 10 years old and had always dreamt of releasing my own music. Growing up with my cousin as a professional guitarist taught me a lot about the industry and with his and my families encouragement and support to pursue music as a career I decided to enter a national singing competition in 2017 where I proceeded to the finals.

From this I was scouted for my first professional job as a musician with a regular gigging contract where my confidence and performance skills grew and I decided to continue focusing on writing my own music alongside. I connected with a local producer and finished my first single which I self-released in June 2019. From this I have had continuous BBC Introducing support, signed to a management deal and now have high fashion retailer and national radio support.

What is your (EP/Single) called? How did you come up with it?

My next single is called ‘Love on You’ which is about an individual falling for someone, which they feel is completely out of their hands, trying to find every reason why they shouldn’t like them and feeling confused as to why they feel this way. However throughout the song it becomes evident that they have decided to just go with the flow.

I wanted to write about this experience because it is something I have been through myself.

What is your genre of music?

The past year for me has mainly been about finding my sound and what suits me and I enjoy the most. The music I previously released has been mainly focussed on the pop genre. However, with many compliments about the soulful tone in my voice, I am writing more soul/RnB music with a feel of jazz, particularly adding live instruments like the saxophone into my tracks.

Who are your influences?

My influences have varied over the years, as a 10 year old I was heavily influenced by Miley Cyrus, Eva Cassidy and Beyoncé. Currently I am watching artists such as Billie Eillish, Mahalia, Mabel, Snoh Aalegra, Summer Walker, Jorja Smith and Ella Mai how they are working and studying their sound to help inspire my music.

How do you describe success?

Overall, I think success is to just be genuinely and completely happy in life. For me, that will be releasing more music and connecting to more people around the world and continue working towards my dream and making a living from my passion.

What can we expect from you in 2020?

A lot more music, more brand collaborations and hopefully more live performances across the UK.
