What inspires your music?
We get inspiration from lots of different places for our music. Lyrically, we have been inspired to speak out against the injustices that we see in the world. The best medium to do so as a group has been through our music. The musical hooks, melodies and riffs seem to come to us from the universe usually when we’re busy doing some mundane task like taking a shower.
How did you start your recording career?
We’re all from different cities. Max is from NYC, Kris is from Detroit and I’m from LA. We all started becoming interested in music at an early age. We all took lessons and dug into our instruments. Overtime, we all joined various bands, met lots of people and toured our butts off! Winding up all together in LA, recording was just a thing that happened organically along the way. Now we get to do it together usually in our home studios.
How did you come up with your single?
The hook just came to me and I recorded it into my phone. Kris and I worked on it on and off over a long period of time! Finally, one day we decided that we wanted to put a band together and this was the first song we were able to collaborate with Max on. We just really jelled and the song came to life. Lyrically, it’s really about stepping back from the Matrix and taking a big picture look at what life really all about.
What is your genre of music?
Sludge Rock.
Who are your influences?
We have so many influences they are too many to name. We really love all kinds of music in all styles. Off the top of my head I’ll say Paul McCartney, the Beatles, Elvis Costello, Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Circle Jerks, The Descendents, ALL, Smashing Pumpkins, Kings X, NIN, Bjork, Joan Jett, Minor Threat, Fugazi. Then there’s all the Jazz, Fusion and 20th Century music that I don’t know but I’m sure Kris would have added.
How do you define success?
Success to me is accepting yourself (having self compassion), being authentic, loving yourself. From there the sky’s the limit.
What can we expect from you in 2020?
We’re releasing two more singles by the end of the year along with music videos. We are planning on wrapping up our EP in December and releasing it into the world asap.
