What inspires your music?

My life and personal experiences are what inspires the music I do. The feelings I feel are my inspiration. You are never alone in what you go through so I am just trying to put words to my emotions and experiences and hoping that other people will be able to relate and connect with my stories.

How did you start your recording career?

I have been singing since I was a little girl but for the longest time I was super scared of going I’m in to the booth because I was scared I wasn’t good enough. I eventually started working with someone who believed in me and I got introduced to a producer who I felt comfortable around and that was patient with me. We recorded my debut single and that’s how I started releasing music.

How did you come up with your single?

For my new single, “Around Me”, I wanted something more upbeat and fun. I met up with a producer from back home (Sweden) and he started creating this beat that I really liked. I wanted to incorporate some afrobeat and also incorporate my Latin side so I wrote the second verse and pre-chorus in Spanish. As soon as we had the basics of the beat, the melodies and lyrics came very easily.

What is your genre of music?

My genre at the core is R&B but I would describe my new music as Afrobeat R&B. The songs that I have out now are mostly R&B but in the near future you will hear music that is more influenced by Afrobeats and Latin music. “Around Me” is definitely a sneak peek of that.

Who are your influences?

I grew up on 90’s R&B so that has influenced my singing a whole lot. Artists like Mariah Carey, Beyoncé & Destiny’s Child, Toni Braxton, Usher, 112, Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys and Ms. Lauryn Hill influenced me. As a teenager I started listening to a lot of Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Davido and Wande Coal so they definitely influenced me as well later on.

How do you define success?

Success to me is doing what you love to do while it also enables you financially. It’d be a beautiful thing to see if people could do what they love and make a living out it. Real happiness and success.

What can we expect from you in 2020?

I am currently working on my first EP. I feel like that project is a true reflection of me, my artistry and what my sound is. It requires a lot of hard work so that is what I am spending my time and energy on right now. Y’all can expect an EP and if not at the end of 2020, definitely early 2021!
