What inspires your music?

That's not an easy question to answer, I think it comes from a place within that draws all people to music. For most people that's the draw to listen to music and go to live shows. For musicians it's a need to create their own music. I'm often inspired by sounds in my head that aren't in the world yet, and then that journey of translating those sounds into music that other people can enjoy. 

How did you start your recording career?

Mostly through playing lots of gigs, then deciding it's probably a good time to make an album! 

What is your genre of music?

I would say Indietronica best describes our sound. But I have heard our sound described as Jamtronica as well, I guess that might apply more to our live sound.

Who are your influences? 

My influences are really varied and constantly changing depending on who I'm listening to at a particular time. I grew up loving Led Zeppelin and rock music in general. Went through a Nirvana phase, a Grateful Dead phase, which then led me to Jazz. Listened nonstop to John Coltrane throughout my college years, then spent a year studying music in India, so have listened to lots of Indian Classical music (sitar, sarod, etc.). These days I listen to anything that sounds original or interesting, usually music that incorporates electronic elements like Daft Punk, Tycho, Tame Impala or anything that sounds fresh and original. 

How do you define success?

I guess success is the ability to do what you love, whatever that may be. Like the old Mark Twain saying goes: "find a job you love doing and you will never have to work a day in your life". In the world of music, that translates as the ability to keep making (and performing) your own music.

What can we expect from you in 2020? 

Kids of Summer just dropped last Friday along with a video or my dog Snookie on skateboard. 3 more singles on the way!
