What inspires your music?

Everyday life and experiences as a teenager inspire our music. We think that in today’s society there is a lot of pressure to be a certain way, conform to the norms, or follow certain trends, but we believe that it is important to stick to our truth and tell our story for those who need to hear it. For our new song, Walking Away, it was based on leaving toxic relationships that we have both experiences, and wanted to leave it open to interpretation for listeners to relate in their own ways.

How did you start your recording career?

Funny enough, the first time we went into a studio was when we were little for a birthday party at a recording studio, and we were asked by the engineers if we sang professionally. Little did we know that was the start of something much bigger. We later started taking vocal lessons and from there naturally fell into writing our own songs. We decided to team up with some songwriters and producers and now years later, we are currently working on our second EP.

What is your (EP/Single) called? How did you come up with it?

Our EP is called The Deep End, which consists of No Breakdowns, The Deep End, Way Home, and Soap. Our newest song and music video is called Walking Away, and that was based on the concept of “walking away” from toxic relationships. The name of the EP was based on our song that had to deal with the structure of society at the time, which was heavily dependant and reliant on cell phones. We wanted to send a direct message to the listener that this EP was about society and how we navigate through these barriers.

What is your genre of music?

Alternative Pop

Who are your influences?

Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell are huge influences on us and our songwriting, due to their uniqueness and genuinity. Harry Styles is also a huge influence due to his fearlessness and ability to be himself with a different and unique sound. Alessia Cara, a fellow Canadian, has also been a huge influence, as she has shown us the power of speaking your truth through music.

How do you define success?

Success is the ability to be content and happy with yourself in the moment, and feel as though you have helped yourself, and even more so have helped others. Success should not be defined by monetary status, but should be seen as something to be given and received for doing good in the world.

What can we expect from you in 2020?

This year, we have more new music on the way, and we plan to finish our second EP. We also have a radio show called The Caardia Show, where we talk about issues pertaining to our demographic with topics from a wide range. We use this as another platform to reach fellow teens and young adults who are interested in educating themselves on current topics, and are willing to take action to better society,
