MellyQueen: Another Like Me
What inspires your music?
Emotions hands down. My raw emotions inspire me. This is an interesting process that allows me to write lyrics that I hope inspire my listeners to feel their emotions and connect with them. In the past, I have been reluctant to listen to my emotions because it is a raw and difficult process, but overtime – I have learned that listening to your emotions makes you a stronger person overall. Feeling your emotions can be a great process because it allows you to really appreciate the moment, learn from it, remember it, and/or move on.
How did you start your recording career?
I have been singing my whole life which is the foundation of my recording career. Writing lyrics is a new concept for me. I began writing in 2019 and I learned a lot, researched a lot, and felt a lot of emotions. When I felt I had a song ready I connected with Adam Pondang in 2020. Adam is an amazingly talented producer and he was very influential and a strong support to the start of my recording career. I am forever grateful to continue to work with him.
How did you come up with your single?
My first single “Another like me” was a song I wrote to inspire listeners to feel confident, empowered and a little sassy. “Another like me” speaks of knowing that you are one of a kind and there is no one like you. This is a strong message I would like my listeners to take away, that each person is unique, and your uniqueness makes you one of a kind.
What is your genre of music?
My genre is Pop/Reggaeton.
Who are your influences?
This is a very difficult question because I have so much respect for so many artists of all genres. But if I must reference my personal playlist that I listen to daily I will have to say Drake, Bad Bunny, J. Balvin, Karol G. These artists have different flow but each illuminate’s great energy and amazing sound- their energy influences and inspires my lyrics and sound.
How do you define success?
I define success as being known for something you are passionate about. I am passionate about my music and I have a mission to inspire listeners around the world to feel their emotions and pursue their raw dreams. Success is unique to the person, so finding happiness in your unique qualities and talents will lead you to define and ultimately achieve success.
What can we expect from you in 2020?
More music and more music videos. I am currently working on my first EP which will consist of 5 songs. I recently released my second single and visual “GOODBYE” from my EP. It is available to on YouTube under the search "MellyQueen Goodbye". I look forward to working with talented artist and creating new and exciting content on my social media platforms.
